Air Jordan II Retro QF- University Blue/black

Is the Air Jordan II University Blue a tribute to Michael Jordan’s days as a student athlete at the University of North Carolina? It’s pretty clear that most University Blue colorways of Air Jordans have been a nod to Jordan’s collegiate years as a dorset ram (better recognized as a Tar Heel, though the name has nothing to do with the animal). The color blue isn’t a first for the Air Jordan II – remember the Air Jordan II “Melo” and the Air Jordan II Low of 2004 – but never has it owned so much of the upper. In addition to the eye-catching color is the translucent “ice” sole and the new JORDAN branding on the heel – an obvious contemporary take on a Jordan logo. These have already popped up at select shops but will officially release tomorrow, July 31st, at Jordan Brand retailers like Extra Butter, or snag a pair now on eBay.

LeBron James Picks Miami Heat

LeBron James has chosen the Miami Heat. James announced his decision to play for Miami during a televised special from the Boys and Girls Club in Greenwich, Conn., on Thursday night.

The addition of James is the third major move the Heat have made this summer. In addition to bringing back six-time All-Star Dwyane Wade, Miami has also agreed to contract terms with five-time All-Star Chris Bosh. Now the three kingpins of this year's free-agent market will combine forces to try to win a championship together.

James, the two-time reigning MVP, has yet to win his first NBA title, and it's clear the desire to win one played heavily into choosing Miami over staying with Cleveland.

After months of speculation and a week of deliberating after meeting with six prospective teams, James revealed that he didn't make up his mind until the final day.

"I decided this morning," he said. "I went day to day. I wake up one morning, it's this team. I wake up another morning, it's this team. ... But this morning I woke up, had a great conversation with my mom. Once I had that conversation with her, I think I was set."

Multiple reports Thursday morning leaked James' plan to join Wade and Bosh in Miami. The stars even reportedly talked about the possibility of it happening during a "summit" in late June.

LeBron gets Twitter account

AKRON, Ohio -- LeBron James has made one decision -- he joined Twitter.

The NBA's most ballyhooed free agent opened an account on the social networking site Tuesday. Publicist Keith Estabrook confirmed the moniker kingjames is indeed LeBron.

James had been reluctant to join Twitter or Facebook and had even joked in the past about how other athletes discussed their personal lives online.

Close friend Chris Paul posted on Twitter at midday Tuesday that while he couldn't persuade James to tell him which team he'll sign with, he talked him into joining the service.

Less than an hour after Paul's tweet, James had nearly 18,000 followers -- even though he had yet to make a single post.
